Gothenburg-based Thunderful Group has acquired Station Interactive AB in Karlshamn, Sweden.

Thunderful Group AB has via its subsidiary Thunderful Development AB acquired Swedish game developer Station Interactive AB through acquisition of all assets. The studio – more commonly known as The Station – has 35 employees that, along with the studio’s IP rights, will be incorporated in Thunderful Development.

The Station, which was founded in 2013 and has been run since the start by CEO Mattias Nygren, creates games based on their own ideas and IP. They are also internationally renowned for excellence in game development, which has led to a number of co-productions centered around strong IPs. The studio has a perennial collaboration with Sony on LittleBigPlanet™, one of the biggest franchises on PlayStation, where Sackboy: A Big Adventure™ was just released.

“We are delighted to bring The Station into the family,” says Thunderful Group CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson. “Our new colleagues are very proficient, both technically and graphically. Together we’ll be able to create even better games and release titles at a higher rate than before.”

“I’ve gotten to know Brjann and his colleagues closely over the years,” says Mattias Nygren, CEO at Station Interactive. “They share my perspective on company culture, people, work and quality. Becoming a part of the Thunderful family feels both safe and very exciting at the same time!”
